The heartwarming true story of a wrong-way humpback whale who is helped and cheered back to freedom in San Francisco. Humpback whales are magnificent creatures that sing beautiful songs to each other... This description may be from another edition of this product.
This was my absolute favorite story as a kid. I’m not sure if anyone else ever got the chance to check it out from our local library, I always had it. When I had my own kids this was the one story I wanted to read to them. I feel so lucky to have found it on here. My daughter loves animals and Humphrey quickly became her favorite story as well. I love that it’s based on a true story. It’s a great book to talk about how to treat animals and how we can help them.
Great story

Got this too, after seeing it on Reading Rainbow. I grew up 30 mins from where Humphrey was and remembered it from when I was a kid. I wanted to share it with my kids and they love it too.
Humphrey the lost whale

I think this book is good because it is a true story about a lost humpback whale that goes into the Sacramento River. I like this book because we are studying marine mammals in class.
Reading Rainbow

I first saw this book on Reading Rainbow, one of my favorite PBS shows as a kid. The story fascinated me, and I'm glad I was able to get my hands on a copy. It's about a whale who can't seem to stay with his family (which all kids can identify with at one time or another), and how the community helps him find them again.
The best whale "true story."

The kind of book you think of when you're looking for a good whale story. Lots of personality and drama, and a super read-aloud for kids even as young as 4. Another fun whale story is The Whale Comedian, which is more humorous and whimsical, but, like Humphrey, shows what kids like most: how we can be friends with these exciting sea creatures.
Awesome Book!!!

The kids I used to babysit used to demand that I read this one incessantly. Very well-written, well-illustrated and cute.
