Lieutenant Cade Grant is rugged and gorgeous, but his heart is as hard as they come. Innocent Liv needs work fast; if she has to be housekeeper to the brooding lieutenant then so be it Soon Cade wants... This description may be from another edition of this product.
Cade Grant was looking for a housekeeper. Liv has just arrived still in her wedding dress after running from her future husband. Sparks fly immediately and it really heats up. Cade is a war hero, even though he saved so many people, he left his brother behind. He was told his brother was dead but he never actually saw with his own eyes and the guilt has eaten him up ever since. Liv came from a family that led her to think the only thing she was good for was marrying the nice stable guy they had set up for her. At the last minute she decides that she needs something more. The pacing was pretty fast in this book. There was consistent action and dialogue with not a lot of thoughts or history from the characters. It was what it was. It actually took me longer to read this book than normal just by the sheer amount of goings on that happened in the book. If I missed one line I might have missed something important. The characters were both interesting and charming. Neither made moves that made you want to bang their heads into the wall. Cade didn't want to feel anything after what happened with his brother and Liv had to battle with herself on what she wanted out of life. But the battle lines were drawn and it was just a matter of them working out a way to be together. No big misunderstandings blocking the pathway in this book. I was pleasantly surprised by how well this book turned out. It still has it's downfalls but it was an all around enjoyable book.
