I am a huge crime-fiction buff, but this is the first "Fang Mulheisen" novel I've read. There is something unique and compelling about it. It's moody, almost dreary, with a depressed main character who lives in Detroit and is trying to solve the murders of some squalid mob thugs. There's not much of a mystery. All I can say is, as soon as I finished it I went out and bought the first one in the series. There's something sly, humorous, and human in it that is very appealing.
