Reptiles and amphibians are kept in over 3 million American households and interest in these exotic pets continues to climb. This book, with complete coverage on all aspects of choosing, caring for... This description may be from another edition of this product.
Interesting little book divided into five sections, frogs and toads, salamanders, turtles, lizards, and snakes. Each section picks a few species (seemingly at random) and concisely discusses their biology, behavior, and how to house and feed them. A few common species and a few exotic species are included in each section. The information provided is useful and the book is well illustrated. It is, however, by no means complete. Many important animals are missing and the information included for the animals represented is basic. If you're thinking about buying a snake, frog, salamander, lizard or turtle and you don't know which to buy, this book will certainly give you some ideas. What is particularly helpful is that the author warns about which animals are likely to be aggressive and which have special care needs. For example, if you considering buying a turtle, you can browse the pretty pictures and pick out some turtles that you like. Then you can quickly read the text to find which ones are easy to keep and safe to handle. Or, if you have some experience with turtles, you might want to buy one of the more difficult breeds. It will even give you some tips on caring for your new pet.If you are looking for information about a pet you already have, this probably isn't the book for you. Unless you are lucky, your pet isn't in it. Still, it is an interesting book and you can pick up some facts about reptiles and amphibians if you are so inclined to do so.
Outstanding book!

An incredibly interesting book that's easy and fun to read. Some of the material seems to be aimed at beginners but some is for those who are experienced, so just about anybody interested in this subject will enjoy this book. Definitely one of the best--and the photos are also extraordinary.
