Having witnessed newfound freedom for girls and women during the past two decades, researchers and educators are now turning their attention to the lack of simultaneous growth and autonomy among boys... This description may be from another edition of this product.
I teach in a Title 1 school, meaning a majority of our students fall into lower socio/economic levels, which typically includes a large percentage of minorities. I was raised during integration in south Louisiana by very wise parents who were also educators and who taught me to look "inside" of others and not to judge by the "outside". I've always considered myself very non-prejudiced, but this book helped me to see more than even the "insides" of my students can reveal to me. The "why's" behind certain behaviors make so much more sense to me and I am now better able to relate to my students, making me a more effective teacher and a better person overall. I highly recommend this book to anyone, but particularly teachers who want to "get it" - it'll change your vision for your students.
