When the editors of Basic Reproductive Medicinewere asked to organize a course on the subject for the Harvard-MIT Division of Health Science and Technology, they found that although many excellent texts existed treating clinical application-including those in obstetrics, gynecology, and urology-the integrated literature covering the subject from the fundamental, pre-clinical point of view left much to be desired in terms of ease of use, comprehensiveness, currency and relevance to clinical problems.
