A detailed uniformology of the foot Imperial Guard of Napoleon III, these men who fought in the Crimea, at Solferino and Magenta, or in 1870. The Imperial Guard is restored on 1 May 1854, two years after the proclamation of the Second Empire. Two Grenadier regiments of 3 battalions, each of 8 companies, are created. On 17 February 1855, a fourth battalion is added, however, companies are reduced to 6 per battalion. The Crimean expedition brings out the need to create a third regiment by Imperial decree of 20 December 1855.
