I'm not sure what the other reviewers were expecting from this book, but it seems to be just what it claims to be: a focused look at training for 5K and 10K races with training plans and some more detailed training advice. I disagree that it's just for beginners, but it does aim at Galloway's target audience of runners who embrace the walk/run philosophy; if that's not your bag Galloway's probably not the author you need to seek out. I'm training for a 10K and it was just what I was looking for.
