Years have passed since the Acadian Gallant family was separated from their patriarch during the British exile from Nova Scotia, but Gabrielle and her mother refuse to give up. They travel to the sleepy shores of Bayou Teche for Joseph Gallant's return, while Gabrielle also waits for a visit from Captain Jean Bouclaire, a Louisiana privateer who has stolen her heart. Captain Jean Bouclaire has finally decided to settle down and he knows the right woman to ask. On his way to join Gabrielle he is challenged to a deadly duel that results in his exile from the Louisiana Territory. Now a fugitive, he must decide whether to flee the colony or risk his life for one last glimpse of his dark Acadian beauty. This paperback is supported in part by ArtSpark, an Individual Artist stipend supported by the Lafayette Economic Development Authority and administered by the Acadiana Center for the arts.
A pirate, a strong woman, and a hot romance in sultry Louisiana . . . what more can you ask for in a historical? With a thrilling plot, Cherie Claire keeps the reader turning the pages, and the historical detail is added seamlessly. If you've read the first two books in this trilogy, you've been waiting for this touching ending--and you won't be disappointed. This story stands well alone, but if you haven't read the earlier books already, it will make you want to run out and buy them!

Gabrielle is a woman of action, not one given to wait. Her endless desire for action leads to a deep, abiding love of the sea. In fact, the only place she truly feels comfortable is on the water. As a child she learned to sail back in Nova Scotia, going along on fishing trips throughout the Minas Basin. So it only makes sense that she would fall in love with a sea captain. Too bad that one minute she believes she nothing but a playful diversion, and the next she believes he loves her passionately, and only something unspoken keeps them apart.Captain Jean Bouclaire is a smuggler, making his living from contraband. It's a dangerous life, and he believes Gabrielle deserves better. The only female he's ever loved as much as Gabrielle is his thirteen-year-old daughter Delphine. His daughter's mother refused to marry him all those years ago because he had no social standing and no wealth. Now Delphine's mother would rather spend the child support money on frippery than on food. Soon Jean must learn that both the love of his wife and his daughter must not be sacrificed because of his ideals about what they deserve.Gabrielle's family waits impatiently for the return of her father and the reuniting of the family after thirteen years. Deftly weaving the loose threads to a conclusion while creating a buoyant, joyful romance, GABRIELLE spans time and distance to prove love does conquer all. I do hope that Claire intends to write an entire novel around the charming and spunky daughter Delphine. Indeed, Claire's remarkable Arcadian trilogy culminates a outstanding body of work, and establishing her remarkable story telling abilities. Highly recommended.

Gabrielle Gallant watches day after day as her mother waits and pines for the return of her loving husband Joseph, Gabrielle's own dear father. It has been thirteen years since his exile which had separated him from his family. Being deeply in love herself, Gabrielle begins to wonder if she too is destined to long for her beloved's return with no chance of happiness.Captain Jean Bouclaire is forced into a duel that turns tragic which makes him a wanted man. He longs to be with his lovely Gabi but feels she deserves much more than what he, a pirate fleeing the law, can provide her with. Jean desperately wants a life with Gabrielle but realizes he can not fight the inevitable. The passion is hot and the love plentiful in this wonderful conclusion of Ms Claire's trilogy. It is much more than a romantic tale! The secondary characters are great, particularly a courageous young lady whom will surely one day grow to be an outstanding woman. What about a reunion with Joseph Gallant? Well you will have to read this book yourself to find that out. If you have not read this trilogy you don't know what you're missing!
