Health advice and reflections on life from a man who has seen it all. Richard S. Klein, M.D. is an internal medicine specialist, NY congressional candidate, knight of the order of Cavilliere of the State of Italy, philanthropist, soldier and author. He has rubbed elbows with such figures as Pope John Paul II, The Clintons, Al Gore, Ariel Sharon and many more of today's most important and influential figures, dispensing plenty of medical advice along the way.Dr. Klein's stories are both entertaining and illuminating. This book is a fun read for anyone who wants to lead not only a healthier life but a fuller one too.
Dr. Klein is an amazing person. His book "From Anecdote to Antidote" proves that he is an amazing writer as well. I haven't seen him in years, and it may be likely that he wouldn't remember me since I was a child at the time, but he had a tremendous impact on my life. When I was 9 years old, ,my mother was sent home to die of end-stage renal failure. They gave her about a week to live. She was 29 years old. Dr. Klein had met her earlier and somehow heard that the nephrology department at a different hospital had treated her - he showed up at our house in the middle of the night and arranged for her to be taken by ambulance to a different medical center where he took over her care. She survived...for 32 more years. I hadn't realize how famous he had become until recently when I happened upon his book. I highly recommend "From Anecdote to Antidote" - it's a great read that touches on what is truly important in life. Dr. Klein has met with Popes and Presidents - but he still had the time to explain to a little girl a long time ago, that he would make sure her Mother would come home. It was a promise he kept.

Doc not only understands the power of stories but enjoys a good laugh. The reader is never bored as the narrative zips along at a brisk pace.

I loved Dr. Klein's little gem. I have known Richie for 50 years and through his keen awareness of the nature of the human condition he has written of his experiences as a physician combining his medical healing power with his sense of humor. I particularly enjoyed the part where Dr. Klein "covered" for the "theater doctor" where he describes his experiences with stars of stage and screen.
