We used this more than the Fodor's Washington DC guide and the Eyewitness Guide. The prices, times, where to eat and Metro stops were easy to find and read. The tips about the best times to get to a specific site and when to buy tickets were great. Our kids are 11 and 8 and the suggestions about what might be interesting to them were spot on. I'd recommend this book to anyone going to DC with kids.
Great tips for getting around Washington DC

My family and I recently took a trip to DC, and brought along this book. It had lots of great tips on what to see and where to eat. We've used the "Boston" version of the book for years, and I was glad to see that the "DC" version was just as helpful.

I purchased this for my Mother when she moved to the D.C. area so she'd have ideas of where to take the grandkids. Everytime we're there I see it out on a counter or on the nightstand. Aunts, Uncles, Cousins have all used to it while visiting. It's a great gift and a great reference. We've definitely gotten our money's worth!

I bought several copies of this book for birthday party presents. My son is two and we are invited to so many parties where the children and parents are overwhelmed with toys. I think this book is a great gift alternative. My mother-in-law saw the book and wanted a copy to have at her house for out of town visitors.

When I came across this book online, I felt I had hit the jackpot. Living in Southern MD. it is difficult to know where to go closer to DC with kids. This book opened my eyes to an array of different things to do with kids of all ages. I have a son who is 20 months and two step-children who are in their early teens. There is something in this book for all of them which will be helpful for me come summertime! I have even mentioned this book to my friends in NY. They would love to travel with their small children to DC but want to know beforehand how to prepare. This book gives much detail about age appropriateness and rules. Knowing where these places are located gives parents the chance to decide if they want to go. The restaurant info included in each section is also a plus for parents with kids of all ages! Kathryn McKay should be commended for her work on this book. She has opened up a new world for parents who may have thought that Washington Dc was just for adults!
