Famed for its thrilling theme parks, Orlando offers enjoyment way beyond roller coaster rides - think stunning natural reserves, luxurious spas, and lively nightlife. Make the most of your trip to... This description may be from another edition of this product.
After much hesitation (due to some negative reviews), I purchased this book for our upcoming trip to Orlando. Upon receiving it I was pleasantly surprised and it has come in very handy for planning our trip. We will have a GPS with us but that doesn't help with knowing which sites would appeal to us which is what this book is perfect for. Also, I like the idea of being able to have a map to carry around with us in case we want to look at where to go next while we're out and about. I find it very nice that there is an identical map built into the book so even if you should happen to lose the pull out map you've still got a back up ... small detail but nice. For the price, I don't think you can beat the value of this Orlando Guide!
A great book for the first time visitor

We went to Orlando for a limited time, were without kids and didn't want to spend all our time or money at theme parks. This book told us where to spend our precious time at the parks and not too much money doing other things. We spent a day at Sea World and a day at Epcot; the book steered us towards the best that both parks had to offer so we didn't feel like we were bumbling around with no clear direction. It also suggested a one hour boat tour in Winter Park, very relaxing (and cheap); no one we talked to ever heard about it, not other visitors or even residents of the area. We also took a suggested manatee cruise on the St. John's River, also very relaxing and inexpensive. We never actually saw a manatee but did see plenty of birds, alligators and turtles. The book also gave us inexpensive places to eat and the best options for dining at the parks. Also other information on places to stay and general tourist info every traveler should have regarding the area like medical, police, etc. I wish there was a book like this for every place I travel to, it's so easy to read and is loaded with maps. It's put together in the style of a "top ten" list and then breaks them down further, for example: the top ten parks or attractions, then the top ten things to see or do at each of those places. Give it a try, you won't be sorry.
Great overview of everythign Orlando has to offer

This travel guide combines the right amount of Theme parks with classic Orlando. The top 10 attractions covered are primarily theme parks but then when region by region is broken down you can really see the various areas to explore in Orlando. From downtown Orlando to Cape Canaveral there are lots of fun and cheap things that can be done outside of Disney and Universal. This is a great start to planning any trip. If you are just going for the theme parks than I would use a different book but if you want to see it all this is the one to get.
Find the Best 10 of Everything

DK is noted for it's thorough and colorful books. This book catagorizes the sights and gives the top 10 for each. Categories include: golf courses, places to cool off, festivals, high end restaurants, dinner shows, hip clubs, ways to have fun on the cheap, family restaurants, etc. Each listing has a short description plus the address, phone and sometimes the hours. I do recommend getting a basic Fodor's or Frommer's for your trip and supplement it with Top 10 Orlando. Within the theme parks, it lists the top ten attractions so you can make the most of your time. Really a handy little book (fits easily into a purse or camera bag). With so much to see in the Orlando/Kissimmee area, this helps you prioritize your visit.
Slim but super-informative!
