Now my Taurus has a chance of lasting me a while...

If you know absolutely nothing about cars and car maintainance, this is a good book. I can't compare to other books of this type, but it certainly has helped me understand a few things. My knowledge of car maintainance so far is from my dad saying "hey, I think you should check your coolant, son", and me thinking "what the?" and putting that off because I had no idea what he was talking about. Now I do know what that is (looked it up in the book), and what kind of tool I need to check this liquid's concentration, and I know what part of the book to turn to if I need to change it myself. Basically this book is good for the know-nothing, at the very least, so that if you go to Jiffy Lube, you have a vague idea of what the dude just said...rather than just going "huh? is that good? sure, if its worth it just do it..." 4 stars rather than 5 since there are parts that I feel are too simplistic and talking down to the reader...but then again, I don't really know if there is more that the authors can say without getting too car specific or just very complicated and detailed
