My husband was pleased to receive this book for Christmas. He has enjoyed reading less technical books on insects in the past. I was initially disappointed because there are very few color photographs in the book. Other than that, it is very thorough and my husband has the background to understand and appreciate the information presented. It is a very large, heavy book and not at all practical as a field guide.
The Best....

This is an incredible one volume insect encyclopedia. It covers all the important topics and covers them with appropriate thoroughness. This encyclopedia would be useful to the entomologist and serious enthusiast alike.
Beauty and More

This is one of the most beautifully presented books of this kind I have seen. Anyone involved in entomological issues of any kind should have this book in their collections. From the photographic beauty of the cover to the extensive, well presented organization of the various "families" of insects, this is a wonderful book.
