I thoroughly enjoyed this book, experiencing a full range of emotions as I read. I found myself laughing at some of the antics of these siblings as they survived, and even thrived in the swamps of Florida's Ft. George's Island. Telling the story in the verbatim words of "uncle Billy", made it that much more believable. Reading the letters between the author and his mother as they were separated by miles, yet struggling to stay "connected", was a unique glimpse into both of their lives. As the book came to a close, and I found myself in tears for the young death of the authors's mother, Elizabeth, I wanted to read more. That is the sign of a great great story. You want more.
