Witness to a brutal murder, Anne Jones bravely agrees to testify. She is given a new name, a new history and is advised not to get too close to anyone. But she does--and with good reason. Somehow, her identity has been compromised. Someone knows who--and where--she is. Anne's handsome boss, Patrick McClain, is himself witness to the scare tactics being used against her and vows to keep her safe. Yet she will have to disappear all over again, lest she put both their lives in jeopardy....
After Anne witnesses a murder, she goes into witness protection - new look, new bio, new job, new town. At the new job she meets professor Patrick McClain. Soon after they meet her car gets broken into and vandalized. Feeling badly for her, the professor offers to drive her around for the weekend. As they spend time together, he starts to fall for her and also realizes something is going on to scare Anne. The mild manner professor suddenly feels very protective of her! The romance is predictable but sweet, and the suspense elements carry the story nicely along. It's not a great book, but a good enjoyable book worth reading, especially if you read Double Deception, which is book 1 in the same series of which Double Jeopardy is book 2.
