Bereits seit der Antike ist der Himmel ein zentraler Raum, der jenseits von festen Orts-, Zeit- und Identitatszuschreibungen das Verhaltnis von Individuum und Kosmos und die damit in Zusammenhang stehenden Grundfragen der menschlichen Existenz und deren Wertkonzepte aushandelt. So stellt der ethische Zugang zum Himmel zentrale Fragehorizonte bereit, die in den Kontext der interdisziplinaren Forschungsfelder und kulturellen Horizonte eingebettet werden. Neben diesen Fragehorizonten ist aber auch die asthetische Umsetzung dieser Perspektivierungen von zentraler Bedeutung, denn wissenschaftliche wie religiose Texte, die sich mit diesen Konzepten auseinandersetzen und den Himmel als Projektionsraum einsetzen, entfalten eine literarisch-rhetorische Kraft. Diese auf ihre ethischen Implikationen hin zu untersuchen, ist ein wichtiges Ziel des Bandes. Since ancient times, the sky functions as a symbolic space where - beyond fixed ideas of time, space and identity - the relation between the individual and the cosmos, as well as related fundamental questions of human existence and concepts of values, are negotiated. In this way, the ethical approach to the sky raises a range of questions, embedded in the context of interdisciplinary fields of research and cultural horizons. Besides the examination of these questions, the aesthetic realization of such perspectives is of central importance. Scientific as well as religious texts that grapple with these problems and use the sky as a "projection screen" unfold an enormous literary-rhetoric power. The study of the ethical implications of such potentials is the essential aim of this volume.
