In print at last -- the life story of legendary Voice of Prophecy singer, Del Delker. From the story of how a tearful Del rejected the call to The Voice of Prophecy three times, to her close calls with the altar, travels with H.M.S. Richards and the Kings Herald Quartet, and struggles with poor health, this autobiography, entitled simply, Del Delker, chronicles this amazing singer's 55 years of music ministry. Read the rest of the story from Del's own lips and be blessed.
From a little girl with an absentee father to a celebrated, dedicated Christian sololist on well-known radio program, The Voice of Prophecy, Del's life sparkles with enthusiasm, dependence on God, a sense of humor, and a penchant for playing jokes on her friends. Her climb to fame, however, seemed unlikely during her teens and early adult years. Rebelling at the restrictions of her elementary years in parochial schools, she enrolled in high school. Freedom at last! It wasn't long until she got in with the wrong crowd, and at the suggestion of her new friends tried her luck at shoplifting. This activity ended with an arrest! Not wanting to face her hardworking, beleaguered mother with a repeat performance, she found a good job. World War II brought double dates with GI's and a whirl of fun! On one date with a young Marine, she found herself confronted with his request that she go to the studios of a radio program, The Quiet Hour. Del wasn't interested. Finally, she went just to stop his pestering. That evening changed her life. From a very young child she loved to sing and dreamed of singing with a large well-known band, but that evening she found her Savior. It wasn't long until the Quiet Hour found Del's beautiful contralto voice. A short time later she transfered to the Voice of Prophecy. Since listening off and on to Del's singing for 55 years, this book brought back many memories. This book is a good read. Betty L. Sheldon, author of Omnipiece
