David Stark is one of New York's most creative and sought-after event designers. This book explores forty of Stark's elaborate yet eco-friendly events--corporate, non-profit, and private--with 200 exquisite photographs and descriptive text. Organized according to the designer's quirky phraseology--"Animate the Inanimate" "Don't Take It So Seriously . . . At the End of the Day, It's a Party" "From Many Little Things Make One Big Thing" "It's Not What You Use, But How You Use It" and "Make Packaging the Prize"--this book is unique in both its presentation and its content. Stark considers his events "art installations" and when guests enter his spaces, that is exactly how they feel--surrounded by the kind of creative input and passion that can only be described as art. Clients include Cond Nast Publications, Cooper Hewitt National Design Museum, Hearst Corporation, Michael Graves, Michael J. Fox Foundation, Minneapolis Institute of the Arts, Museum of Arts and Design, Rachael Ray, Tory Burch, Saks Fifth Avenue, Sephora, Sundance Institute, and Target.
Time and again, David Stark proves his mastery of creativity and artistic vision to transform spaces into vibrant experiences that not only evoke energy and delight, but also bring meaning to every event. This book beautifully captures the realization of some his most innovative concepts and is a treasure for the senses. If you're planning an event, looking for inspirational ideas for your home or office, thinking of going into the event design business, or just open to engaging in a visual celebration of possibility, this book is for you!

David Stark's amazing new book shows clearly why he's widely-regarded as New York's most creative events planner. Anything but formulaic, Stark's book shows the joys of new ideas, executed beautifully. The book is a wonder to thumb through, and so dense with creative energy that it can never be exhausted. Never content with the 'same old, same old,' Stark clearly loves to push the envelope. The surprises in this book just keep on coming. Highly recommended for anyone who enjoys beauty -- and certainly for anyone looking to bring some beauty and creativity into their homes, and of course, their events and parties ...

Turn page after glorious page in David Stark's sophisticated new book and you will discover the true meaning of "live art." Stark, an international event planner, creates living monuments for the philanthropies and individuals whose parties he plans. The only problem? They are temporary. But they live on in Stark's eponymous design book, thank goodness, through the slick photographs that feature his distinctive work. Stark doesn't do mere flowers (although when he does flowers, they are clearly one-of-a-kind). He creates installations as detailed as a dramatic chalkboard backdrop (where event guests are invited to become part of the design) and as simply elegant as a beach wedding (albeit with exotic tents for dinner and dancing). His hallmark is the uniqueness of each event. In the accompanying text, Stark details his out-of-the-box approach to event planning, and one can see quite a bit of the painter that still lives on in him. For Stark, each party is a blank canvas. And after reading the book, one can't wait to see his next brush stroke. Stacey Mindich

With a keen eye cast on all things whimsical, wonderful and worthy of celebration, the pages are filled with delicious photos and anecdotes about an array of extraordinary events ranging from the seemingly subdued to the utterly sublime.
