I bought this for my 9-year-old son. He LOVES visual-spatial, puzzle, problem-solving activities. In the past I've purchased 300+ piece puzzles, extreme dot-to-dots, latch hook rug projects, etc. - anything that requires him to use his visual-spatial skills, and has some kind of pattern or puzzle. He really took to this plastic craft lacing activity. He followed the directions all by himself and taught himself to do this, beginning with a simple, 4-strand, square "laynard" to a 10-strand, spiral one. This book also shows you how to make holes, or leave spaces, in your laynard, how to stabilize it with wire, how to put beads on it, etc. It has a variety of fun projects that you can make, once you've mastered the various styles from keychains to an entire zoo of animals. Some of the projects require other materials, such as glue and craft foam sheets.
