Was Benjamin Franklin a British spy? This is the startling but all too legitimate question investigated in this complete reappraisal of one of America's most illustrious founding fathers. Basing his... This description may be from another edition of this product.
I was always curious about how Ben Franklin could do so much in one life time and, without computers or modern transportation! I had to do some investigating. This book gives a realistic view of Franklin as opposed to all the myths surrounding this historical character. The author delineates an intreguing picture of Franklin as a British spy. If you add to this, the information in the accounts of Franklins involvement with the Hell-Fire Club, you really start to see the picture. The world, "history", is much more complexed than I have ever imagined. Very very well done book. Has some angles I haven't come across anywhere else. Mr. Currey did alot of research for this work. It makes me question other historical topics. Take a second look.

Think you know Ben Franklin? Well, maybe not. Dr. Cecil B. Currey's CODE NUMBER 72- Ben Franklin Patriot or Spy is one of the more interesting finds in academia and the University of South Florida Professor's account makes for a convincing and well presented argument that one of America's 'Founding Fathers' may well have been a British spy. Now that's a mystery to jump into and Currey does so with well researched material that may just have you saying 'Hmmm?' by the first few chapters. Ben Franklin was one of the more amazing characters in American history and the writer, elder statesman, inventor, and ribald figure had more facets to him than a bagful of a hyperactive diamond cutter's gems! This is a fine book for anyone interested in a different look at history and one that will keep you wondering for a long while afterwards.

A well written and researched book which provides a compelling account of Franklin's role during the revolution. Am somewhat biased as a former student of Dr. Curry at the University of South Florida.
