While Coco sails on a luxurious cruise liner to Paris, everyone compliments her handmade hat. She promises them she will open a marvelous millinery in Paris. By chance, she finds herself on a beautiful tropical island, where she makes distinctive hats with materials she finds there, leading to her fame and fortune when she finally reaches Paris. Full-color illustrations.
This book is excellent! My two-year daughter loves the feisty little Coco that loves traveling and refuses to be labeled. She is brave and aspires to be different. A great book altogether!
My Favourite book - and I'm fifteen!

This is, by far, my favourite book. The story itself is fairly strong, about a carrot living a wonderful life as a hat designer, and fulfilling her dreams. What I really, really loved about this book were the illustrations. Each page is impeccable, filled with wondrous colours, and many lovely artistic techniques that were easily visible. I cannot stop reading this book over and over again, and I'm fifteen! It's a delightful variation of the usual bedtime stories, very creative and exciting. I JUST LOVED IT and I hope others will too!
Not Choosing Coco is "Loco"!!

For the Calecott Award, Coco the Carrot did not win. This cute, sweet picture book is about a carrot who dreams of something more than a lonely life in the vegetable bin. It is inspires children to go for the gold, to dare to dream big, and then if you try, you just might pull through. Although the main idea (a carrot becomes a hat designer in Paris, France with a monkey)is a bit far-fetched, this is a true winner.
Coco is delicious!

This book satisfies all my good literature cravings. Visually, it is stunning. The tasty artwork is indeed, artwork. The story is delectable and will leave you satiated, but somehow wanting more. It is a rare children's book that takes you to another world, but this book does it easily. If fact, this book is as enteretaining for adults as it is for children. My hat's off to Mr. Salerno and Coco. I can't wait for the next adventure with Coco the Carrot. Yummy!
