The family of "Cliche" descends from "Nicholas Queliche Cliche (1653-1687) who came to New France, Quebec Canada in 1671. He was what they called a "Gentleman" who worked for his father in one of his enterprises which ended being taken over by another Lord. Upon arriving in New France he became employed as a domestic servant for Nicolas Gauvreau, a Master Gunsmith and Master Locksmith. Nicholas Cliche learned the trade and himself became a Master Locksmith and Master Gunsmith. He was the son of "Knight Sir Nicholas Clicquet" (1620-1670) a Professional Squire and Assistant to his father, "Lord Knight Sir Pierre Clicquet" (1590-1660) who was Lord of Ramilly and Flammermont and Bailiff of Harness and of Henin. Sir Pierre was the son of "Lord Knight Sir Jean Ratchet Clicquet" 1555-1614) Lord of Flammermont and Bailliff of Harness, and was a Professional Squire who also held a Law Degree. He was the son of "Lord Knight Sir Michel Ratchet Clicquet" (1524-1583) who was Lord of Ligney and Lys Rammilly, who was a Professional Squire and Bailiff of Harness. He was the son of "Knight Sir Polrus Jacques Clicquet" (1500-1568) a Professional Squire and Bailiff of Harness. He was the son of "Knight Sir Henri Ratchet Clicquet" (1461-1540) a Professional Squire who served his Lord Isambert Rolin Lord of Pas-de-Calais and Aymeries Nord, France. Sir Henri was the son of "Knight Sir Vincent Clicquet" (1435-1473) who was a Master of Cavarly and a Master Archer. He was the son of "Adrien Ratchet Clicquet" (1400-?) known as a Gentleman. He was the son of "Jean Ratchet Clicquet" (1380-?) also known as a Gentleman.
