A Celebration of the Grand Old Party You're a Republican. You pride yourself on republican values and traditions, went into mourning when your party lost the House in 2006, and are on a mission to... This description may be from another edition of this product.
"A Republican's Soul" is an excellent primer on what it means to be a Republican. I enjoyed this text very much, but I enjoyed the great speeches by Abraham Lincoln, Barry Goldwater, and yes, even G.W. Bush the most. Having them out in front of me in written form made their signicance deeper. The eight or so pages of quizes on Republican history can help the uneducated amongst the GOP familiarize him or herself with some of the party's past. The essays by the non-famous are good, but some are better than others. What was really brought home to me was how the citizens of decades past were willing to sacrifice time and effort to make a difference with their respective political party. I find today's generation a marked contrast with so few young individuals not wanting to get involved with current events. The cartoons are adequate, but I wish they could have been expanded a bit more. Hopefully, the editor can compile a second edition with other great Republican speeches, cartoons, and essays by perhaps some more reknowned conservative thinkers like Paul Harvey, Rush Limbaugh, Cal Thomas, and others. I would highly recommend this book for anyone who needs to be reminded about what the GOP stands for. JThree Williston, ND
