This collection of paintings that include a cat shows these enigmatic creatures in many different contexts. In "Cat Seizing Bird" by Picasso, he is using a ferocious cat to depict the danger that Germany under Hitler posed to Europe. In "Man With the Cat" by Cecilia Beaux, we see a contented cat, lethargic in the lap of a seated man. The painting, "Woman With Cat" by Pierre-Auguste Renoir, shows the cat as an object of affection, as she snuggles her cheek against its face.
