The Fitzgerald part stands on its own.

[spoilers] I actually did like this, but I thought the part about the Hall-Mills murder didn’t work. The investigation was so botched and the Pig Lady so ridiculous that it wasn’t even interesting, and the parallels that I think the author hoped to draw felt superficial. The Fitzgerald part *is* interesting, though, and stands on its own; it would have been better if it wasn’t tripping over the murder interludes.
