I purchased this book and read it cover to cover before my recent trip to California. I can't express enough how helpful it was. Everything just made sense. I felt like I knew a lot about the state before I even went there and when I was there it all clicked. We even tried a couple of hotel recommendations with great success. (The Fogcatcher Inn in Cambria, near Hearst Castle was wonderful). This book is for someone planning to VACATION in California. The places that are not tourist worthy are not mentioned and they tell you that from the get go. Trust me, the vacation destinations are all here and written about in great easy to read detail. You will be glad you bought this book before your trip.

I found this book very beneficial on my recent trip to California. There were some great suggestions on off the path excursions that I would not have experienced had I not read about them in this book.
