Burn Baby Burn, the second novel featuring Alphonse "Dave" Davecki, is billed as a Superior arson mystery and it delivers as just that. It is indeed a superior arson mystery novel. Savage does not disappoint as his quirky detective investigates a serial arsonist, or arsonists, with a new partner, the beautiful "Bubba" Carlstrom. The reader is introduced to some rather interesting, and some rather downright oddball characters as Davecki pursues his nemesis. True to Savage form, the book is as much about place as it is plot and makes for a neat tour of some of the high, and low, points of Superior Wisconsin, as well as the twin cities. Overall a nice fast paced book with some laughs and some shudders. Chris Forman
