From leading parenting expert Alyson Schafer, Breaking the Good Mom Myth breaks down personal and cultural myths about motherhood while empowering mothers everywhere As a psychotherapist and parenting... This description may be from another edition of this product.
I love this book. As a mother of two (2 yrs and 4 yrs daughters) I re-read it every once in a while to try to maintain perspective. I think Alyson has such a healthy idea of what being a good parent is. I love her take on guilt (she has certainly spit in my soup) and having checkups for your marriage before things go sour. I'm always looking for more specific parenting "how-to's" and detailed indexes - this isn't really that book but I think she offers some parenting classes that are excatly that - but it's a great read beginning to end. So inspiring and grounding. Thanks for writing this.

After going through 16 months of hell trying to be the perfect Dr. Sears AP Mom a friend lent me this book and boy did it turn my life around! It has very practical advice for new moms and seasoned moms alike. I too found the section on siblings and family meetings VERY helpful!
Lot's of common sense ...

This book has a lot to offer any mom who feels guilt about not being the uber mom so many of us think we need to be. There's a wealth of good old fashion, just makes sense, practical advice for parents. I particularly enjoyed her discussions on sibling rivalry and family meetings. Definitely a useful read for moms and dads alike.
