Be careful what you wish for. . . Food writer Annie Wilkins is on an express elevator to fame and fortune, thanks to research scientist/husband Tom's remarkable invention: fat-free, carb-free,... This description may be from another edition of this product.
I loved this book. The writing is droll and realistic, the vocabulary is for adults, and the characters' emotions and reactions were realistic. I laughed out loud at some parts -- the protagonist gets herself into some I Love Lucy situations without the crying and whininess. Loved it!
Fabulous!

Great story with very engaging characters. Isn't there an Annie in all of us? I loved the exciting ending -- and love a smart woman.
Laugh out loud

If you are a working mom, you may think that you don't have the time to read this book- but you absolutely must. Waggoner's heroine is the new American hero: a middle class mom with smarts and moxie to spare. Annie juggles sudden fame, corporate America, a teen deemed "suspiciously well-adjusted" by his teachers, a four year old Francophile, and her own self-doubts with a driving wit that will make you laugh out loud. If you ever wished someone would invent a calorie-free chocolate bar better than the real thing, welcome to your fantasy. If you ever wished you could find an oasis amidst the chaos of modern motherhood, welcome to Better Than Chocolate, the book find of the summer!
A "Must Read"

Everyone who has ever dreamed of hitting the jackpot should read this book. Very amusing and well written, this book is one of the best I've read in years. The characters are equally amusing - from the corporate executives to the zaney neighbors.
But you can enjoy both

I am planning to include a copy of Ms. Waggoner's rich and tasty first novel with each box of Godiva goodies I give in the years ahead. The reader can then can have both the movie-worthy story and some sweets in hand. During the read I felt I was meeting people I'd love to bite into. Getting a taste f the chocolate business might leave a slightly bitter taste and reveal some soft or even sour centers, but who can resist devouring yet another page after page? As for a delicious conversation starter, candy's dandy but candy *and* this story is better. I wouldn't be surprised if actors are already licking their lips, eager to play their part. This summer's beach party game will probably be "who will play who." It is better than chocolate alone.
