"Baggett, Bagot, Bagod de Arras" all descend from Norman Knights, Earls, and Counts "Wago de Arras" and his brothers Roger & Robert de Arras who came from the Castle of Saint-Omer de Arras, of Northern France. They came to England with William the Conqueror in 1066, and were Williams principle leading Knights and Earls leading large forces for William. For their service to the Duke William, they were rewarded with substantial large estates, castles, lands, mansions and lordship of different areas of England. In 1101 they further consolidated their power when the now King Henry I, son of King William I, granted them a licence to build a castle at Framingham, Bromley which became the family seat of power. Another of their castles, was Bungay Castle, also in Suffolk. Both were improved by their descendants. In 1074 Roger Bagod was appointed High Sheriff of Norfolk and Suffolk and received many more castles while becoming the Earl of Norfolk, England.
