Delves into the financial demise of the PTL and explains how the business practices of both the PTL and its auditors contributed to its downfall. Focusing on a popular media topic--ethics and evangelism--the book illustrates how important it is to maintain professional integrity, particularly in today's turbulent financial times. Includes court exhibits and letters from PTL members that present personal experiences of those who lost money in the financial scams that sent Jim Bakker to jail.
Fascinating insight into corp. governance and big churches

I well remember when PtL was brought to shame, so if you ever wanted to know the story behind that this is a great book. More importantly, it's a fascinating insight into failures of corporate governance and the consequent service failures and collapse of public trust. With chapters entitled "Where were the non-executives?" and "Where were the auditors?", it provides neat foreshadowing to well publicized private sector failures to come. While governance conditions in the PtL were extreme, I believe that many of the warning signs shown in this book are relevant to the private, public and not-for-profit sectors. Not only that, but I found this book really easy to read, gripping even.
