While some estimates place the prevalence of Asperger's Syndrome at 1 in 500, it's rare when we come across others with Asperger's and even rarer when we share what our life experience is like. For many there is little or no guidance on the journey of discovering one has Asperger's to fully dealing with all of its various aspects. Asperger's Syndrome comes with both positive and negative aspects and while some in life have managed to utilize the traits to be highly successful in their careers others have found life a struggle and have had difficulty finding there purpose.A paper published in The Lancet Psychiatry in June 2014, suggested that suicidal thoughts were ten times more likely in adults with Asperger's Syndrome than in the general population. This is a tragedy which is preventable with adequate support.I believe that everybody deserves the best opportunities and quality of life.
