Gentle Story About Friendship

This is the story of an unlikely friendship between a Marmot named Bruno and his Dandelion playmate. Bruno cannot understand why his friend has to disappear with the Summer, and puzzles over her insistence that everything will be just fine, until waking up the next Spring when the first thing he sees is a meadow full of Dandelions! My two-year-old twins loved the story for its themes of friendship with those different to you, trust, and the cycle of renewal. The real selling point is the sumptuous illustrations. Rich colors and vivid characterization draw the reader into Bruno's world. Especially rewarding are the big smiles when a child reaches the last page and sees what Bruno sees - the gorgeous gold field of dandelions stretching into the distance. Highly recommended - just be prepared to explain what a marmot is to inquisitive little minds!
