This book was about a girl named Morgan and a fairy named Gretta who casts spells on Morgan so a boy would like her. I think that this book is funny because Grettta always casts the wrong spells on Morgan. Maple Valley WA USA age 8
Angst and Magic in Junior High
Published by Thriftbooks.com User , 19 years ago
Living through junior high school does feel a bit like being lost in a forrest -- suddenly your surroundings are confusing and the path in front of you is unknown. Your body is changing, your friends change, your ideas about boys change -- Morgan Yates is a prime example. Morgan does not have a mother to turn to for advice -- but suddenly help appears in the guise of a glittering, if inept, fairy godmother-in-training. Being 13 is also a magical time, and Ms. Meacham does an excellent job of showing both the joys and possibilities, as well as the fears and angst, in Morgans life. Like Shakespeare, she's quite adept as a comic writer and her characters are three-dimensional; unlike Shakespeare, she's writing a novel, not a play; she's writing a modern book for a younger audience, who certainly will thank her for this imaginative novel.
