Perhaps one of the most ridiculous phenomena of recent years is Bernard Goldberg's right-wing and unforgivably successful 100 People Who Are Screwing Up America. The vast majority of his targets are... This description may be from another edition of this product.
Very good book, very informative. I knew of most of these people anyway. They are the America haters that are selfish and don't care anything about this country just their own interest. I see this book raises the ire of those Conservative hate mongers out there. you know the ones that think that anybody who doesn't believe in what they say must hate America. Well that's very stupid logic. Quit watching Fox news and listening to Rush and get a mind of your own
Smarter and more entertaining than I'd imagined

Why include J. K. Rowling, who's sold an ungodly number of books? Read that part and find out (the terms "excess" and "bricoleur" come to mind). Why include NASCAR, an institution as American as apple pie and watered-down beer? As with Rowling/Harry Potter, it's merely a denigration of the excesses of pop culture. What about good ol' Dr. Phil? Huberman's condemnation of America's most popular and trusted TV shrink (who's not actually a medical doctor, but a PhD in psychology) is one of the most aptly written sections and shouldn't be missed. Though this book is intended to be critical of a great number of people, it's still a humor title and can't always be taken too seriously--so keep that in mind while reading and maybe you won't get too heated when he bashes something near-and-dear. Yes, many will be offended by the material, mostly because it flies in the face of the status quo (and some people need to be offended). Even if you heartily disagree with Huberman's assertions he at least makes you think (hopefully) and question what's going on around you, in terms of the government, pop culture, the business world, and so on. (Being critical of one's institutions is the essence of democracy, after all.) Huberman deftly weaves serious denunciations with many bits of hilarity, and backs up his assertions with a reasonable depth and variety of sources. He's not the comedic maestro Al Franken is but he's got his own voice and keeps the reader entertained. This book is a necessary response to Goldberg's whiny and pitiful "100 People Who Are Screwing Up America". I've read much of Goldberg's "100 People..." and it's just not funny. I can handle liberal-bashing, as long as it's genuinely funny; but Goldberg's writing just isn't humorous, nor is it insightful. Where Goldberg merely stokes the fire of far-right loathing, Huberman consistently makes good cases for persons and organizations that really are detrimental to a healthy America (and world). Not quite deserving of a full 5 stars, but ½-star increments aren't allowed here.
Required reading for understanding the fall of the American Empire

Today, the USA, more than ever, is being driven to destruction by ruthless politicians and corporations, bent on preserving their position through thoughtless greed-driven campaigns, all for short-term gain and power without responsibility. Of course, the USA has been dumbed down by these interests for so long now that the average American is unable to interpret what is really happening to their world. This book truely addresses the culprits in this dark (or last) phase of the great American society. You're either a director of this ugly process or you are a supporter. Here is a good list of 101 people who are either or both. Goldberg's book by contrast is a shallow contribution to the power grabber agenda, which is really a class struggle. He attacks anyone who has ever defended our rights. To bad Joe Average American can only think in simple terms and is easily manipulated by the Right-wing media. Keep your eyes out for more destruction in the coming years, especially if the GOP and Bush Co. persist in their campaigns. Too bad Ann Coulter is right about one thing: liberals and Democrats have been largely useless as of late in response to the hateful agenda of the other side.
A great book

I agree with almost all of the choices. This stands far, far above the piece of propaganda that inspired it. As for the choices I don't agree with, I appreciate the author's arguments. But don't read a single page if you are one of the species of thoughtless animals commonly known as "conservatives."
Great Book!

The above interview is typical right wing nonsense. The guy hasn't even read the book. This is a wonderful insight into the monsters who are really destroying America. Highly Recommended.
